Problems POPing Email with Outlook (home)
If you are having trouble checking your email with outlook, it is probably due to
the fact that we recently moved our email server from one datacenter to another.
There are a few steps that you need to take in order to make sure that you can check
your email correctly.
Please choose from the following list of items the description that best suites
the problem that you're having:
- I am able to send/recieve without getting an error, but mail is not
showing up for me
- I get a username/password error when checking my mail
- I use webmail and all of the mail which was on my account is now gone
1: Modifying Outlook settings to point to the new server (top)
If you are able to send/receive mail, but mail is not showing up in your inbox as
expected, it may be that you are still checking for email on our old server while
mail is now being delivered to our new server. To correct this problem, simply
follow the steps below to update outlook to look for mail on our new server and
you should be all set.
- Launch Outlook or Outlook Express
- Choose Tools | Email Accounts from the top menu bar
- Click next to View or Change an existing email account
- Find your account and click Properties, Change or Modify
- If you are using Outlook Express, click on the "Servers" tab of that dialog box.
In Outlook you should see the servers right on the first page.
- You should see 2 servers listed (POP & SMTP). Both are probaly pointing
to mail.trakkware.com
(they also have one of these values: 64.49.252.86, mail.trakkware.com, mail.kalliopi.com
or mail.fullservicehosting.com)
- In any event, these should both be updated to point to
email.trakkware.com
- Everything else should stay the same. You should now be able to send/receive
mail on the new server
2: Use the following form to update your password (top)
If you are having trouble checking your email because you are getting a username/password
error, this may be because your password was reset when your account was re-created
on the new server. To correct this problem, follow the steps below.
- Make sure that you are entering your username as your full email address
- Your password should be the same as it was before, though it may be have been reset.
- If your password was reset and you want to change it back to what it was before,
find out from your system administrator what your "temporary" password is and then
click here to change your password.
3: Configure webmail to retrieve email from the old server (top)
If you had mail stored on the old email server and that mail is no longer showing
up on the new server, complete the following steps to retrieve the mail from your
old server.
- Log into your new webmail server by clicking
here and entering your current email address and password.
- Click on "multiPOP" from the left side menu once your account loads
- Enter the following values into the form that you are presented with:
- Server: mail.fullservicehosting.com
- Port: 110
- Alias: FSH
- Username: your email address
- Password: your old password
- Make sure that "Check mail during folder refresh" is checked
- Click "Add Server"
- Click "Refresh Folder List" from the left side menu
This should cause the webmail client to go back to the older server and retrieve
all of the mail that is there and move it over to the new server.
